Requirements

The requirements to become an officer are as follows:

  1. Be a U.S. Citizen.
  2. Be 21 years of age.
  3. Pass a written & physical agility test.
  4. Possess a valid driver’s license with no negative points.
  5. Have no DUI convictions
  6. Vision of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20.
  7. No convictions of felonies and /or misdemeanors.
  8. Pass an extensive background investigation.
  9. Pass psychological, medical and drug screening.
  10. Pass a polygraph.
  11. Possess the ability to speak clearly, hear, analyze, and react quickly to high stress situations.

    Salary & Benefits

    Starting salary for a police trainee is $49,826.00.

    Starting salary for a Virginia certified law enforcement officer is negotiable based on years service, training, and experience.
